Meet Thomas Baer


Tom Baer has been a leader in law, government, media, entertainment and the arts.

After serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Tom was a founding partner of Baer & McGoldrick (now known as Schulte, Roth & Zabel, a 400-lawyer firm in New York).

Tom founded Steinhardt Baer Pictures Company with Michael Steinhardt. The company has produced motion pictures and television and has invested in entertainment and media businesses including a feature film distributor, a media services company, and the largest independent producer and distributor of audio-visual classical music programming.

In politics, Tom has played an active role in the last seven Democratic National Conventions and served as a producer of both of President Clinton’s inaugurals. Starting as an advance man, Tom has produced major events for federal, state and local candidates.

In government, Tom has served as a Public Member of an inter-agency working group that declassified all United States government documents pertaining to Nazi and Japanese Imperial war crimes. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton.

In news and media, Tom has been a commentator on Fox News Channel and Fox Business as a spokesperson for moderation and centrist policies.

Tom is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, served as a Trustee of the Aspen Music Festival and School for twelve years, and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Yale Law School Association.
